Charlotte Olympia has just revealed its latest shoe collection and it has a exotic feel. This season, designer Charlotte Dellal looked to the high glamour of Miami and LA for the pieces which include high heeled platform sandals and chunky wedges. There are also clutch bags including the Pandora clutch with interchangeable printed in-lays.
Olympia heels are unique with incredibly sculpted shapes. This spring, the Avalon heel (top left) is surely going to be the most eye catching on the red carpet. The gold metal twists are such an gorgeous way to add a couple of inches, but I wonder how comfortable they are? I would be very nervous about breaking/damaging them. Especially with the £1,000 + price tag…
My favourite are the Isla platform (above left) with leaf detail straps, although I’m not sure I could walk very far in them. It’s good to see Olympia sticking to the signature platform style, whilst softening the shape slightly. It shows a new versatility to the brand which was in danger of getting pigeon-holed. This appears to be becoming a bit of an issue for footwear designers as they try to produce an instantly noticeable edge to their designs (like Louboutin’s red soles). Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to have a signature style, but it’s also important for designers to be able to show off their versatile skills. You can shop some of her current season shoes here:
